Happy March —
I'm Michael Sousa, founder of GME Manager. This is the first edition of GME Manager Monthly — a short update on what we're building, what we're hearing from programs, and one feature worth knowing about each month. Three-minute read, once a month. That's the deal.

Where We Are
GME Manager is an AI-native residency management platform built from the ground up for the CBME era. We started with Family Medicine — and I'll explain why in a moment.
Here's what's happened since we went heads-down last fall:
Full prototype complete. Not wireframes — a working, clickable prototype covering all four personas (Resident, Faculty, PD, Coordinator) with real workflows, real data models, and live AI features. We're demoing it now.
Initial outreach underway. We're in early conversations with a small number of Family Medicine programs who want to shape the product before it ships.
Positive early feedback. Program Directors who've seen the demo keep coming back to the same reaction: "We've been waiting for someone to build this." The AI-drafted evaluations and ABFM Attestation Tracker have been the biggest conversation starters.
LaunchPad Pilot finalized. Our free 90-day pilot program opens in mid-May — self-guided exploration, no 16-week implementation, no sales pressure. Start when you're ready.
Why Family Medicine First?
We get this question a lot. Three reasons:
The ABFM mandate creates urgency. By June 2026, Program Directors must formally attest to each resident's competence across all 15 Core Competencies. No legacy platform was built for this. Every FM program in the country is feeling it right now — and we built directly for it.
Family Medicine is the largest residency specialty. More programs, more residents, more diversity in training sites and workflows than any other specialty. If you can serve FM well, you can serve anyone.
FM programs are the most underserved by current tools. The platforms with 90% market share were built to track time, not growth. They have zero AI, aging mobile experiences, and no CBME-native workflows. The gap between what FM programs need and what they have is wider than in any other specialty.
We'll expand to other specialties — but we're not in a rush. We'd rather be the best platform one specialty has ever used than a mediocre option for all of them.
What's New This Month: AI Copilot for Program Coordinators
Every month, we'll spotlight a new capability. This month: the feature PCs have told us they didn't know they needed.
The unsung heroes of GME finally get an AI that works as hard as they do — and works while they sleep.
The Overnight AI Report lands on the Coordinator's dashboard every morning. It shows exactly what the AI handled between sessions: duty hour chases auto-resolved, evaluation reminders sent, submissions received — and the 2-3 items that need a human decision. The PC opens the app and sees proof the system was working at 3 AM.
AI Batch Actions turn 45 minutes of individual chasing into one click. The AI pre-selects every actionable item — overdue eval reminders, duty hour follow-ups, PD escalations — previews exactly what will happen (which templates, which recipients), and executes the batch. A success banner shows what was sent and the time saved.
This is the beginning of Variable Autonomy™ — our framework for giving PDs control over how independently each AI agent operates. The Coordinator Copilot acts within its configured boundaries, then reports back for the calls that need human judgment. It's not a chatbot. It's a deputy.
Deep Dive: ABFM Attestation Tracker — 90 Days and Counting
The June 2026 deadline is 90 days away. Here's what you should know.
ABFM now requires Program Directors to formally attest to each resident's competence across all 15 FM Core Competencies before they can sit for the board exam. This isn't a checkbox — it requires documented evidence of milestone progression, clinical performance, and CCC deliberation for every competency.
Most programs are assembling this evidence manually. Pulling evaluation data from one system, procedure logs from another, CCC minutes from a shared drive, milestone ratings from a spreadsheet. For a program with 24 residents, that's weeks of work.
GME Manager's ABFM Attestation Tracker does this differently:
Evidence is aggregated automatically across all 15 competencies — evaluations, milestones, procedures, CCC determinations — because it all lives in one system.
Each resident gets a readiness score: green (ready to attest), amber (gaps to review), red (not yet ready).
The PD reviews and attests in approximately 4 minutes per resident, with audit-ready documentation generated automatically.
The entire workflow produces the PDF package and data export ABFM requires.
If your program is feeling the weight of the June deadline, this is the feature we'd most want to show you.
Something for Everyone
One thing we hear in demos: "Which persona benefits most?" The honest answer is all four — but for different reasons.
Residents will love voice-enabled procedure logging. Shake your phone, say "knee injection with Dr. Torres," and the AI fills the rest. 10 seconds between patients.
Faculty will love AI-drafted evaluations. The AI drafts from actual clinical data — faculty review, personalize, and submit. 15 minutes becomes 2, and the quality goes up.
Program Directors will love the CoC Predictor and one-click APE reports. The report that used to steal a week of your life generates in one click across all 15 required sections.
Coordinators will love the AI Copilot. The chasing isn't just reduced. It's over.
Mobile Is Not an Afterthought
A quick note on something we feel strongly about. GME Manager Mobile is not a companion app.
Most platforms in this space take their desktop screens and make them "mobile-friendly." That's a companion app — and it's not a credible strategy anymore. 98.3% of residents use smartphones during clinical practice. They spend 1.7 hours per day with patients versus 5.2 hours on computer tasks — and they're almost never at a fixed workstation. Their phone is their primary computing device.
GME Manager Mobile is purpose-built for the phone from day one. All four personas. Full offline support. Shake to Log. Voice input. Push notifications. Biometric security. Not a responsive web page — a native app designed for how residents actually work.
We project 90% of day-to-day GME Manager usage will happen on mobile. We're building accordingly.
One Ask
If any of this resonates — the ABFM deadline pressure, the AI capabilities, the mobile-first approach — we'd welcome the chance to show you the product. No pitch deck, just the working prototype.
We're looking for a small number of early partners to shape the final product before launch. Free pilots open in mid-May — early partners shape the product and get first access.
